This privacy statement describes how Think. Check. Submit. collects data (including personal information), why we collect it, how we store it, and how we use it.
Who we are
Think. Check. Submit. helps researchers identify trusted journals for their research. Through a range of tools and practical resources this international, cross-sector initiative aims to educate researchers, promote integrity, and build trust in credible research and publications.
The campaign has been produced with the support of a coalition from across scholarly communications in response to discussions about deceptive publishing practices.

What information we collect about you
We collect information through this website via our mailing list sign-up form; by recording data about your visit to the website, such as via the use of cookies; and through the third party social networking websites such as Twitter.
Subscription to our mailing list
If you sign up for the mailing list on our website, or via a Think. Check. Submit. survey where you gave us permission to contact you, then we collect and store your name and email address in order to be able to keep you informed about news and developments at Think. Check. Submit.
Social media
If you follow our Twitter account then your details will be subject to Twitter’s privacy and data protection policies. You are free to unfollow or cease interaction at any time.
Cookies
We use the plug in GDPR Cookie Consent which enables you to accept cookies for your browser. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer which provide us with aggregated information about how users interact with our site.

Analytics
We use the MonsterInsights EU Compliance plugin on our WordPress-run website, which anonymises IP addresses and disables UserID tracking on all Google Analytics hits, eCommerce hits, and form tracking hits.
reCAPTCHA
We have implemented reCAPTCHA v3 on our site and your use of reCAPTCHA v3 is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
How we use the information we collect
We only send news and relevant resources from Think. Check. Submit. to people who have opted in to receive news about Think. Check. Submit.
We only contact people about translations and/or ongoing feedback about the initiative where they have agreed to receive such communication via a survey or direct communication.
The information we collect will only be available to members of the Think. Check. Submit. committee and people directly engaged by the committee to work on the initiative and working in line with this policy. This may include Think. Check. Submit. staff, web developers and communications consultants contracted to work on the initiative. We will never share your information with any external third parties.
How long we store information
We retain your mailing information (name and email address) in our records if you give consent to us, as per Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
We will hold details until you notify us that you do not wish to be contacted by us. Please contact feedback@thinkchecksubmit.org if you want us to remove your email address from our mailing list.
